At the beginning of 2024, we were addressed by a Ukrainian manufacturer of perfumes (own production), who first planned to enter the American market. The load consisted of 100 tons of perfumery, including bottles with various aromas.
The main challenge was that perfumes contain alcohol and belong to the category of dangerous goods (Flammable Liquid, Class 3 according to the classification of dangerous materials). It was important for the customer that perfumes were delivered to our warehouse in New Jersey quickly and without damage.
Problems:
- Classification of cargo as a dangerous required additional permits and special packaging.
- The restrictions on the transportation of perfumes complicated the choice of the route.
- Given the fragility of the bottles, it was necessary to provide maximum protection of the cargo.
Decision:
- We organized certification of cargo and prepared accompanying documents in accordance with the requirements of IATA (International Association of Air Transport).
- They picked up a reliable air carrier specializing in the transportation of dangerous goods.
- The packaging was strengthened by special shock -absorbing materials and protective partitions.
